League of Legends announces Practice mode

Practice mode

In the latest post on the League of Legends site the team announced an upcoming “Practice Mode”. The earlier this year it was announced that the mode was “no longer being worked on”. The community was upset, so Riot went back on the decision. The team told us they would tell us more “when there was more to tell” and it looks like there is finally more. Although… perhaps just like the World of Warcraft team pulled the emergency switch with “Legion”, Riot is doing the same thing in League.

Pull the Practice Mode Emergency switch!

Riot has had an interesting year. While some decisions (like practice mode) have been great others… have not been. Multiple times this year there have been updates that were pushed out conveniently close to scandals in the scene/game/community. I don’t think this is bad, but at some point Riot is going to run out of ways to make the community forget about the last negative thing that happened. Let’s get back to practice mode though!

Practice mode will allow players to play in a custom game that they can level manually, freeze minion spawns, have infinite gold, and reset all their cooldowns. It’s something other games like Heroes of the Storm, Dota 2, and others have had for a while now, but better late than never!
